About Us My husband and I initially conceived Apex Property Management, Inc. over a few beers in Costa Rica. We lived in Costa Rica for two years to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life to spend time with our newborn. After two years of fun in the sun, we decided to get back to the real world. We owned a rental in Costa Rica and found it difficult to find a good, honest, and reliable property management company. A discussion with a close friend in Bellingham indicated the Bellingham area lacked that type of company as well. Bellingham seemed to be (and is) a great place to raise a family and enjoy many outdoor activities, so we moved.
We opened Apex in the spring of 2001. At that time, we had secured 35 units. Today Apex currently manages over 925 units in 115 buildings and employs 7 year-round employees and 2 seasonal employees. We purposely do not own any of the units we manage so none of our owners or tenants feels we have any conflict of interest in how we operate our business.
Our growth in such a short period of time is because we were blessed with good timing, a strong work ethic, and a shared belief that failure is never an option. During our years in business, we have been both innovative and progressive, earning a reputation of excellence in our field. However, we never forget the value of hard work. Every year we review and revise strategies to save our property owners money as well as make our tenants happy. Our goal is and always has been to rent nice places from nice owners to nice people.
While the homes and apartments we manage are located throughout the city of Bellingham, we specialize in housing close to Western Washington University and the downtown area. We have very few houses or apartments located outside the greater Bellingham area. To provide the best service possible, we try to target the smallest area possible and not spread ourselves thin. Apex has never been concerned with being the largest company in town.
So, who is Apex? Apex is a company that is owned by and staffed with honest, hard-working people. We are not perfect and we are constantly striving to improve what we do. We learn from our mistakes, and we respond to situations that arise to provide our property owners and our tenants with the best possible service. We are not unlike other small businesses that are trying to earn an honest living, raise a family, and enjoy everything our community and life has to offer.
